Mobile Guide

Although this site displays well on a cell phone (after resizing of course), we are using WordPress’s “WPtouch” plugin by bravenewcode.com to enhance our mobile users experience.  This plugin transforms WordPress themes into a iPhone application-style theme when viewed from an iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Opera Mini, Palm Pre or BlackBerry Storm mobile device.

To take advantage of our mobile formatting, point your device at  “CellPhoneDiaries.com” or use your mobile’s bar code scanner to read our QR bar code to go there:

To navigate the site with your mobile device:

Please use the pull down triangle to the right of the site title on ever page. This lists links that will allow you to easily navigate the site. In the footer of ever mobile page is a “Mobile Theme ON option that when clicked, can be used to switch between the mobile and our regular theme. When viewed from a mobile device, this same footer exists in the regular theme as “Mobile Theme OFFand can be clicked ON to switch back to a mobile view.

A note about the embedded Youtube videos, mobile devices and video quality:

Although Flash media is not viewable on a Android phone at this time and most probably will never be on a iPhone, through the magic of WordPress, embedded Youtube videos play on both devices. This is not true for embedded videos on a regular HTML web site. Android phones play those, iPhones do not.

Unfortunately, on iPhone, a lower resolution video is served.

Initially, the same is true for Android devices, but, with a Android, after a video has loaded, you can click the phone’s Menu button and choose the “more” button. This leads to a setting labeled “Watch in high quality”. When you click that option, the video will switch to a higher resolution. Depending on the video’s file size, this may take a moment, but, the clarity is well worth it.

After checking with iPhone users, there does not appear to be a similar option for that device.
