During the summer of 2009, I went down to Palo Alto to see my 79 year old Aunt who was visiting there to participate in the “National Summer Senior Games” that were being held at Stanford University. This has some times been referred to as the the “Senior Olympics” and is opened to folks above fifty years old. My Aunt has been a runner the last 20 years and had competed against other Seniors in several prior Games, so was looking forward to this round of competition. As you can see, these Seniors can really run.
On the first day there, my Aunt placed third for the Bronze medal in the 100m race. That’s her at 01:43 in the video. On the third day of her visit, she placed second in the 100m race and won a Silver medal.
This video shows that one is never to old to get in good physical shape and pursue a dream.
