Walking down the street, I saw a small crowd standing on the side walk by the bus stop in front of my bank. Everyone was looking at the car parked there. I thought it was a cool looking vehicle, so decided to shoot a quick vid. (Be sure to read the note about the car below the video)

A note about “It’s a French Car”:
After viewing this video, my friend Jazzman Jibilla, from the online Second Life® virtual world, contacted a long time buddy who is knowledgeble about automobiles to see if anything could be discovered about the make and model of this vehicle.

“Mike” emailed him back within a few hours with the following:

From the badge, I believe you’ve come across a Talbot Lago, and looking through some images of them, it’s likely a 1937 Talbot-Lago ‘Special’ 150 SS Goutte d’Eau Coupe with coachwork by Figoni & Falaschi. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talbot-Lago: “the top bidder at a Christie’s auction was awarded a 1937 Talbot-Lago T150 C-SS Teardrop Coupe with coachwork by Figoni and Falaschi for his $3.535 million dollar bid”. Very French, indeed, but in a good way. Very obviously one of the big inspirations for the styling of the Jaguar XK 120 coupes 14 years later…

Do check out the Wikipedia link above. It is a interesting read and a reminder of the fact that many “futuristic” automobile designs were done in the 1930s.

Many thanks to Jazzman for pursuing this and to his friend Mike for the research.
